Class Curriculum

The Caterpillar class is structured for the youngest of the children here at A Child Becomes – ages are between 2 and 3.  The curriculum integrates skills from all areas and  focuses on the “whole child.”  Children are guided and challenged to learn and grow through play, art, music, stories, drama, cooking, outdoor experiences and exploring their environment.

In particular, the curriculum is focused on:

    • Encouraging autonomy and independence as they learn to successfully separate from their parents.
    • Providing a safe and nurturing atmosphere where children can actively engage their minds and bodies in the learning process.
    • Providing a developmentally appropriate introduction to the school environment that will lay the foundations for future success in academic endeavors.
    • Implementing socialization skills with our friends and adults.
    • Increasing color and shape recognition.
    • Beginning counting skills.
    • Awareness of alphabet and numbers.

The student to teacher ratio is 5:1.  Please refer to the Class Eligibility Guidelines to see the age ranges for the class.
