Summer Camps 2024

Welcome!

Join us for a summer adventure that will captivate your child!  Our camps are a sensory experience designed to enhance your child’s awareness and understanding of science, the arts and nature.  Sign up for one or more! See below for camp dates and themes.

Camp Information:

Camps are Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday from 9:00am – 1:00pm at A Child Becomes Preschool.  Some Early Elementary camps are held off-site.  Please see descriptions for camp locations.

Age Groups:

Preschool, ages 3-4 (in/entering Butterfly or Sunbeam) * All campers must be 3 yrs old before camp and fully potty trained. 
Early Elementary, ages 5-7 (entering K-2nd grade)

Registration Dates:

February 1 – 10: Registration open for 2023-24 ACB Students/siblings + ACB Alumni
February 11 – ongoing: Open to public as space allows

Cancellation Policy:

Before May 31, 2024 – Full refund minus $25 fee
After May 31 , 2024 – No Refunds

2024 Camp Sessions

SESSION 1: June 25 – 27

Gardening (Ages 3-4)

Think Peter Rabbit! We will discover many of the Beatrix Potter tales with fun activities as well as make our own miniature gardens to take home and learn how to care for plants.

From Zoo Plankton to Tide Pool Animal! (Ages 5-7)

Students will be stationed at Alki Beach and explore tide pool animals during minus tides. Each year brings new discoveries. This camp is a favorite for many including teachers! *Drop off and pick up at Alki Playfield.

SESSION 2: July 9 – 11

Infinity and Beyond! (Ages 3-4)

Planets, Moon and Stars! What child isn’t intrigued by the wonders of space. We will teach young campers about the Milky Way Solar system and create some awesome space shuttles from refrigerator boxes.

Seattle/Paris Olympics 2024! (Ages 5-7)

With the Olympics starting this month, we will create our own Opening and Closing Ceremonies with medals for all. We will spend three days at Hiawatha Park learning to throw the turbo jav, jump in the long jumps, pass the batons in relays, and jump over child sized hurdles! And a special visit from two Olympians! *Drop off and pick up at Hiawatha.

SESSION 3: July 16 – 18

All About the Zoo! (Ages 3-4)

Campers, get ready to build your own zoo. Become Zoologists. Make animal and bird masks using feathers, glitter, paint, and fur! Use large boxes to create animal habitats!

SESSION 4: July 23 – 25

Kipling Stories African Animal Puppet Camp! (Ages 3-4)

Learn about the stories of Rudyard Kipling and make animal puppets to retell the stories! How Did the Leopard Get its Spots? How Did the Elephant Get Its Trunk? Rhino, It’s Skin, Giraffe, It’s Long Neck! Young children will love acting out these stories!

SESSION 5: July 30 – August 1

Bob the Builder Woodshop Camp! (Ages 3-4)

Building and word working together with scraps and recyclables. Can we make things that float? Can we make a table or box? We will help children use small hammers and nails, wood glue, and Velcro to create our own very cool wooden inventions!

SESSION 6: August 6 – 8

Ocean Animal, What’s Your Name? (Ages 3-4)

We will learn all about ocean animal life; from whales, salmon, and sharks to giant mollusks such as the giant squid and lantern fish at the bottom! Different from Tide Pool animals, we will dig deep into the bigger sea and learn some very cool facts about ocean from around the world!
